The environments
To what extent does our environment influence the way we function?
No human system develops independently of its environment.
We are constantly evolving through contact with different environments that influence how we perceive, act, and adapt.
These environments can be:
• physical
• family
• professionals
• social
• cultural
• natural
They participate in how the system receives and processes the information that comes to it.
They primarily answer the question:
"In what context is the system evolving?"
A space of mutual influence
The environment influences the system.
But the system also influences its environment.
This interaction is ongoing.
The same individual can feel:
• supported in a context
• limited in another
• stimulated in a third
The observed behavior often depends as much on the context as on the individual themselves.
Environmental resources
Certain environments naturally favor:
• recovery
• learning
• cooperation
• security
• exploration
• adaptation
They support the system's ability to process the experiences encountered.
The environment then becomes a resource.
Possible imbalances
When the environment no longer sufficiently supports the system's operation, we sometimes observe:
• overload
• exhaustion
• recurring tensions
• difficulties adapting
• feeling of being stuck
• loss of bearings
These manifestations are not always related to the person themselves.
They can also reflect a mismatch between the system's needs and the characteristics of its environment.
A broader understanding of human functioning
Observing environments allows us to broaden our understanding of a situation.
It invites us to consider not only what happens within the system, but also the conditions in which it evolves.
In my approach, this reading can also include living or working spaces when these appear to participate in the observed dynamics.
The objective remains the same:
better understand the conditions that promote the circulation, adaptation and balance of the system.
A system never functions alone. It always evolves within an environment that contributes to its balance.
